Starbucks is celebrating the Season and wants you and a friend to join them :)
The deal: From November 17th-20th between the hours of 2-5pm when you order any Starbucks Holiday drink (Peppermint Mocha, Gingerbread Latte, Creme Brulee Latte) you can get another (equal or lesser value) for FREE!
Aside from the drink offer, I love this site! Starbucks has done a beautiful job with the site— it has a very engaging layout with sharing applications galore! They’ve seriously listed every social medium (hence I am sharing on my tumblr).
Great deal, great marketing, great customer engagement!
The Bake Shop at Girdwood, AK!
This place is not only famous for their delicious bread bowls, but for its beautiful flowers as pictured here. In the winter this spot is frosty white, more picturesque than any holiday catalog. It’s frequented by skiers looking for a break from whizzing around the Alyeska Ski Resort which lies right behind the shop building.
During the summer tourists flock to this spot to enjoy a sweet roll and look at the large flowers in every color and size. Their vivid colors and sweet fragrance coupled with the crisp Alaskan air is worth the drive to Girdwood.
Hiking in the Catskill Mountains
As someone that grew up with the wilderness surrounding me, an occasional detox from the city that never sleeps is a necessity. NYC is wonderful, but the excitement and energy of the city can easily be rivaled by the soothing natural landscape only hours north of Manhattan.
For this particular escape I went to hike in the Catskill Mountains. The trail my comrades and I chose was the Escarpement Trail which hits beautiful points like Artist Rock, Sunset Summit, Newmans Ledge, and Ashleys Falls. Many of America’s most famous painters went to these breathtaking viewpoints for inspiration and unrivaled views of the Hudson river and surrounding foliage.
Now I’m no painter but I too “go to these mountains” for inspiration. Something about being fully immersed in nature’s vastness helps me gain perspective and focus. I highly recommend hiking as an activity not just for physical health but mental and emotional balance from our hyper-connected, work centered lives. I’m always surprised at how much more efficient and creative I am after a nice bout with Mother Nature.
